The white, pure snow invites to explore the nature. You can try out snowshoes and learn about the nature and some wilderness skills, like making a camp fire.

In Rovaniemi, we have approximately one meter of snow in the mid-winter time. This white winter gown of winter is amazing at all times within the winter. During the darkest time in December and January we enjoy the hazy purples and blues while in February and March at this time of the day you most likely enjoy bright daylight.

We take a light hike on a trail leading us to a shelter in the forest. Here you are surrounded by deep snow and it is hard to get around on foot. However, with snowshoes you can hike in deep snow, without sinking too much. There are snowshoes at the shelter and you can try out hiking in the snowy nature. Let’s enjoy the small miracles of nature, like hanging moss on the trees, snowdrifts creating fairy tale figures and maybe even some birds or trails of arctic animals. Your guide is happy to share his / her wilderness skills with you, for example how to make a fire.

As we enjoy a small strengthening snack by the fire, you can take the opportunity to ask your guide about the nature and the winter in Lapland.
